We are an original Indie-Alt-Country-Acoustic-Roots-Jazz-Blues-Rock 
based on the six solo CDs recorded and released by Optic Frog recording artist Stephen King since 1995. Morphed from a rag-tag jam band to perform a CD release party of Stephen’s 2005 double-CD “Fields of Yellow,” the band has taken on a life of it’s own.

The Dirge are classical and street trained musicians with over 75 years of combined musical heritage. Think “Wilco” meets “Stevie Ray Vaughan” meets “Tom Petty” meets “Rush” meets “Coldplay” meets “Grateful Dead” meets “BTO” meets “Dave Matthews” meets “Ry Cooder” meets “Death Cab for Cuties” makes a damn fine set of music!

Band members include Art Thiessen (Hammers), Jeff Goguen (Six strings), Nathan Krentz (Four strings), Stephen King (Six strings), and Stephen Nykolyn (Sticks and Skins).
